I have been the manager of a thriving specialty coffee shop in the Peak District for 5 years. This has involved working and training (mostly) young people and ensuring their safety in the workplace. I organised regular check-ins and took extra measures when made aware of any mental health or medical issues were brought up. My role varied from manager, to shift rotation, to training and pastoral care. I loved forming bonds with the staff and making sure the job was a fun experience for them.
I take a caring role in my day-to-day. I was raised by a single mother who I remain very close to. I make sure to regularly meet with her. She doesn't drive so I take her shopping each week and act as a taxi service when she gets the train to my grandma. I take great joy in cooking for her a couple of times a week and love treating her to the cinema.
Whilst I do not have direct PA experience, I have many transferrable skills from a career in a customer-facing role. I am a friendly and adaptable person. I love learning about other people and will happily listen to stories from people about their lives. Equally, I am able to sit in quiet company if that is preferred.
